My name is Kat, and this is my Bright Winter story…
On my birthday a few years ago, I decided to take an exercise class that I’d been putting off because I was basically afraid. I’m not sure if it was fear of being terrible or fear of trying something new, but it kept me from walking through those doors many times.
The class worked out fine and actually opened the door for me (in my mind) to try other classes which I came to enjoy. I decided then that my birthday should be a time to take the plunge into something that I’ve been meaning to do but haven’t.
BrightWinter Studio was born as I was drawing at my desk between work-related phone calls, thinking about what I would do to challenge myself as another birthday approached. I realized that while I was spending a lot of time drawing and lettering, I had been putting off doing something goal-oriented with art for a long time. A really long time. I happened to read an article that said “If you don’t start somewhere, you’ll never get anywhere,” and it seemed obvious. A couple of months later, a few weeks before my birthday, I opened my Etsy shop. I love looking at it and continuing to develop it every day.
I hope you find something you love among the prints and artwork here. They all make me happy. My work here is intended to be personal, colorful, and cheerful. If you’re interested in custom hand lettering or illustration and think my style might be a fit, please feel free to contact me! I love to work with people to understand their ideas and then turn those ideas into bright realities.
I live outside Philadelphia with my husband, two kids, and a spoiled orange cat.
